Tera Patrick's career has not been without its challenges. She faced criticism from various quarters, including within the adult film community, over issues such as her advocacy for condom use and her efforts to unionize performers. Additionally, she encountered personal and professional challenges that tested her resilience and character.

Between 2000 and 2001, she swept numerous industry awards, including the AVN, XRCO, and NightMoves Awards for "Best New Starlet".
