Crna mačka, beli mačor (Black Cat, White Cat) is a vibrant 1998 romantic black comedy directed by , celebrated for its chaotic energy, slapstick humor, and soulful portrayal of a Roma community along the Danube. The Story: A Comedy of Errors
The wedding day descends into pure chaos. The stubborn Zarije, unwilling to miss the event, decides to fake his own death. Before the ceremony, Zarije is discovered in the attic, packed in ice, apparently dead. When Dadan refuses to postpone the wedding, the family hides the body in a wooden crate. Yet, the couple cannot escape tradition; they are not supposed to marry while in mourning, so the family is forced to hide the body in the attic, packed in ice. The wedding begins, but as Zare and the diminutive Afrodita exchange vows, the bride suddenly runs away from the altar.
From Afrodita running away from her wedding to Zare and Ida sailing down the Danube, the film is an anthem for those who refuse to be caged by debt or tradition.
