Viveka Chudamani (వివేకచూడామణి), often referred to as the "Crest-Jewel of Discrimination," is one of the most celebrated philosophical treatises in the tradition. Attributed to the 8th-century sage Adi Shankaracharya , it serves as a pedagogical manual for seekers aiming to attain Moksha (liberation) through the faculty of Viveka —the ability to distinguish between the eternal Self ( Atman ) and the transient world ( Anatman ). : Read at least one or two verses daily during the early morning hours ( Brahma Muhurta ) when the mind is calm.

Shankaracharya systematically breaks down the five layers of human existence, known as the Pancha Koshas (physical, vital, mental, intellectual, and bliss sheaths). He proves that the true self lies beyond all of them. The Value of a Telugu Translation

The title itself explains the value of the book. A "Chudamani" is the crest-jewel worn by a king—the most precious ornament in the crown. Similarly, among all scriptures dealing with discrimination (Viveka), this text is supreme.
