Dulce María is overjoyed at the thought of being reunited with her father. Her happiness is devastatingly short-lived, however, because when Luciano arrives, he is not alone. He has brought with him his new girlfriend, , a fashionable and seemingly kind woman. Dulce María immediately senses something is wrong, and her worst fears are confirmed when she sees Nicole's true nature: she's a frivolous and materialistic woman, primarily interested in Luciano's money, and she instantly views Dulce María as an obstacle to her plans. This first episode ends with the central conflict firmly established: the innocent Dulce María must now find a way to protect her father and her family from the woman she is sure will destroy them both.
