After shooting, the massive amount of visual data was processed into a , which became the master format. This master was then used to create all subsequent home video versions, including the 1080p Blu-ray release. A 1080p video (1920x1080 pixels) provides four times the detail of standard DVD resolution, making it the perfect medium to appreciate the fine grain of the 35mm film and the sharpness of the 6.5K digital footage. The official Blu-ray, which our target file is based on, presents the film in its original 2.40:1 aspect ratio with a 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video encode.
MKV files can house high-bitrate video, resulting in minimal compression, clearer action sequences, and deeper blacks in dark scenes.
The film features a number of impressive action sequences, including a HALO (high-altitude, low-opening) skydive jump and a motorcycle chase through the streets of Vienna. Tom Cruise performed many of his own stunts in the film, including the HALO jump.
