The movie revolves around the story of Gaurav (played by Akshay Kumar), a happy-go-lucky and carefree man who lives in a small town in Haryana. He falls in love with a beautiful girl named Rukmini (played by Kriti Sanon), who is a village belle. However, their love story hits a roadblock when they discover that the village toilet is not functional, and the local authorities are not bothered to fix it.

Keshav (Akshay Kumar) marries Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar). Soon, Jaya discovers that Keshav's home lacks a toilet, forcing her to defecate in the open like other women in the village.
