It is not enough for a lesbian to celebrate her marriage if she votes for politicians who ban trans healthcare. The future of LGBTQ culture depends on the LGB community recognizing that the attack on the T is the same attack that used to be aimed at them.

When police raided the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, New York City, it was the trans women of color, gender-nonconforming street youth, and lesbians who fought back first. Icons like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera became central figures of this resistance. Younger queer people (Gen Z) are far more likely to identify as transgender or non-binary than older generations. In fact, studies show that Gen Z is the first generation where nearly 1 in 6 young adults identifies as LGBTQ+, and a significant percentage of those identify as trans or non-binary. This means the "T" is actually becoming the dominant face of the new queer movement, shifting the focus from sexual orientation to gender freedom.
