One of the primary concerns of the film is the concept of identity. The two main characters, Joe and Jerry, find themselves in a situation where they are forced to assume new identities in order to protect themselves from the mob. This transformation allows them to shed their old selves and adopt new personas, which in turn allows them to navigate the world in a different way. Through their experiences as "Josephine" and "Daphne," they are able to gain a new perspective on the world and on themselves.
