The most crucial detail about this film, and the source of much fan debate, is that it is widely believed to be a repackaged version of a much earlier, unreleased film from 1980 titled A Woman's Dream . This earlier film was directed by a 1960s and 1970s softcore director known as Pete Perry (or under the pseudonym A. Stootsberry). For the 1989 release, the film was given new opening and closing credits, credited to series director Kirdy Stevens, and rebranded as a "Taboo" sequel. This has led some fans to controversially state that "there is no TABOO VII," calling it one of the biggest "con jobs" of the 1980s adult video era.
